- Locale
- The township of San Remo has a full range of shops and services, including
cafes, restaurants, pubs/TAB, a supermarket, fishing shop, chemist, doctor,
all emergency services plus an ATM.
Directly across from the house is a school playground including a basketball
court, football oval and an undercover play area. All of these can be observed
from the front deck.
Within 200 metres is a safe family beach for swimming with a great outlook across the
channel to Cape Wollamai. At low tide hundreds of rocks come out of the
water which is great for looking for crabs and other sea creatures – ensure you
throw in an old pair of runners to avoid any scratches. High tide is
great for fishing…see the local fishing shop to see what’s biting.
- The House
- BBQ equipment:
- A gas BBQ and gas are supplied. We ask that you keep the BBQ clean, and ensure it is
ready to be used by the next person.
- KITCHEN:
-
- Basic comestibles including oil, tea, coffee, sugar, flour, as well as a range of
sauces and spreads are available. Please replace any item that you empty. Tea towels,
hand towels, placemats, coasters etc are provided, please use them. All cutlery and
crockery is provided, including cookware. Cling wrap and foil, as well as other
storage items are provided. There is an oven, cook top, toaster, and kettle.
|
- LIVING ROOM:
- TV/ DVD and a basic radio are all provided. Heating and cooling are supplied via
a new split system air conditioner.(please note - there is an old air-conditioner
still on the wall which is not connected, please do not attempt to use this).
- BEDROOMS:
- There are two bed bunks in one room, a double bed in a second room, plus a
flip-out sofa bed in the third (which has been converted into a TV room). There
is also plenty of room in the backyard for those wishing to put up a tent…
All bedding will need to be included in your packing list.
- BATHROOM:
- Usual amenities are supplied. Toilet paper is supplied, however, we request you
ensure that there is sufficient for the next tenant, should you run out. Tissues
and hand wash are supplied. A basic first aid kit can be found in the bathroom,
along with insect repellants and other basic items. Please bring along bath
towels, beach towels, bath mat etc, as these are not supplied. The shower is
over the bath - please be careful if you are not used to this - especially children.
In the bathroom is also a washing machine for your use. This will do a great
job, but as it is quite old, please treat it with care and do not overload.
There is also a second toilet located in the backyard - a refurbished classic
outback dunny – and ‘yes’ – it is connected to the sewer!
- WATER:
- The tap water is from the local weir. It is hard water, so you may need a
little extra detergent. It is fine for using in cooking or to boil up for hot
drinks, but is not recommended for straight drinking. Therefore we recommend you
either bring fresh drinking water or it can be purchased quite cheaply at the
local supermarket.
Please note; the hot water is very hot - please take extra care with children.
- PHONES:
- There is no landline at the house; however mobile phone coverage is
excellent. There are also public phones available in the main street
- GARAGE:
- There is a lockable garage available - great for securing motorbikes or
classic cars. One of the car spaces has a table tennis table in it, therefore
only one side is available for use.
- OTHER THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:
- SPORTING EQUIPMENT: in the garage are a couple of fishing rods and some
tackle. Please ensure these items are washed in fresh water prior to returning
them to storage. Fishing licences can be purchased at the local fishing shop
(next to the drive-through bottle shop) - these are recommended as the local
Wildlife and Fisheries rangers can be quite vigilant. FYI: Salmon and whiting
have been caught at the end of the street…
Boogie boards and a beginner's surfboard are located in the lockable
garage, along with a number of deckchairs, a table tennis table and a
beach umbrella. If used, please ensure all of these items are returned in the
same condition ready for the next holidaymakers.
Pets: unfortunately we are unable to accommodate any furry friends….
Please note: Further enjoyment notes including local attractions (of which there
are 100’s) are in the information folder at the house…
We hope you enjoy your stay!
